  • Teach children how to identify a water emergency (e.g., someone struggling, unresponsive, or calling for help).

  • Explain the importance of acting quickly while staying calm.

  • Always alert the nearest lifeguard or responsible adult first.

  • If no lifeguard is present, call 911 immediately.

    • Follow instructions from the emergency dispatcher.

  • Never enter the water to rescue someone unless trained.

  • Do not panic—stay calm and focus on getting help.
