Lesson 2 - Asking for Permission

Asking for Permission

  • Always ask an adult before entering any body of water.

  • Reinforce the phrase: "Before I get into the water, I must always ask first."

  • Teach children to recognize safe swimming environments and who to ask for permission.

  • Role-play scenarios where children practice asking permission before getting into the water.

  • Emphasize that even strong swimmers need permission to swim.

  • Explain why permission is essential: to ensure there is proper supervision and to avoid dangerous situations.

  • Highlight different environments where permission is required (pools, lakes, oceans, bathtubs, etc.).

  • Encourage children to communicate with lifeguards, parents, or guardians before swimming.

  • Discuss what to do if a friend does not ask for permission: inform an adult and never enter the water alone.

  • Reinforce asking permission as a lifelong safety habit, not just for young children.
